New TAČR research project at the department

The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic supported 32 project proposals out of a total of 160 in the second public competition of the Program for the Support of Applied Research and Innovation in the Field of the Environment, Climate Protection, and Sustainable Development – Environment for Life 2.

Our colleague Doc. Polívka from the Antennas, EMC and EM Field Modeling team, also succeeded in the very strong competition and won a three-year project entitled “Radar Tracking of Large Pollinators and Invasive Hornets: A Methodological Framework for Detection, Prevention, and Protection,” which aims to create devices and methodological procedures for the effective tracking of large pollinators and, above all, invasive Asian hornets, which pose a serious emerging threat in our country and in Europe.

The project will be carried out in cooperation with the Bee Research Institute, Ltd. and Czech Agrifood Research Center, where invasive species in the Czech Republic and their elimination have been studied for a long time. An example of this is the successful citizen science project Najdi.je.
