Analyzer of modal structure in optical components – AViSOK

Developed Software

We have developed special software for evaluation especially encircled flux parameter (EF), which is crucial for multimode transmission analysis e.g. in data centers. The software also enables fiber connector inspection, mode field diameter measurement and optical input power determination.  Fig. 1 shows software interface with an analysis of 50 µm fiber mode field diameter (MFD). The 2D intensity profile is displayed in x- and y- axis where the middle of the mode field is determined automatically. Moreover, the MFD threshold (e.g. 1/e, 5 %,..)  is adaptable.

Example ofEF evaluation by AViSOK software are given in Fig. 2 according to the international standard IEC940/09. The standard defines four point where the EF profile must be inside in order to optimally fill core of a multimode fiber. Results are then plotted to table along with limits from the standard and the difference from EF target, which the middle value between upper and lower limits. It is enabled to export these data like a figure or to csv format for further processing.

Finally, Fig. 3 depicts software interface with showed inspection of optical fiber connector.

Aim of the project

The aim of the project is in its 3rd year the development of a prototype of an analyser of mode The aim of the project is in its 3rd year the development of a prototype of an analyzer of modal structure in optical components and subsequent filing and receive of a functional sample in the 4th year of the project; then in the 3rd year of the project an output in the form of an authorized software for evaluating the modal structure. In following years after the end of the project analyzers of modal structure in optical components will be manufactured in the frame of achieved parameters and possible market application. Also the developed software will be commercialized. Last but not least based on the project, measurement of the modal structure will be offered in a certified laboratory located in PROFiber Netrowking CZ s.r.o..
